About
Clear money math, free and in the open
Finelta is a set of free financial calculators for the decisions people actually face: paying off a loan or a credit card, buying a home, building an emergency fund, investing, retiring. Every result comes with the formula behind it, so you can check the math instead of trusting a black box.
Who’s behind Finelta
Why Finelta exists
Most money calculators online show a number and stop there, or surround it with ads and offers for the very loans they are helping you evaluate. Finelta tries to do the opposite: explain what the number means, show what you would pay in interest, and suggest the next step.
It is built in English and Spanish from day one, because good financial tools in Spanish are still hard to find.
What you can count on
No ads, no sign-up
Every calculator is free to use without an account.
Private by design
Calculations run in your browser. The numbers you type are not stored or sent anywhere. The only exception is the optional AI Money Coach in the Financial Health Score, which sends your inputs to generate its advice.
The math is public
Each calculator lists its formula, assumptions, limits and sources, and the date it was last updated.
No sponsored results
No lender, bank or broker pays to appear on Finelta or to influence any result.
How the calculators are built and checked
- Formulas follow standard finance math (amortization, compound interest, present and future value) and are written up on the methodology page.
- Results are cross-checked against reference tools and worked examples before a calculator is published, and again whenever it changes.
- Rules of thumb (28/36, 50/30/20, the 4% rule) are labeled as guidelines, with their origin cited, never as personal recommendations.
- Each calculator shows the date of its last update. Official figures such as minimum wages and tax rates are reviewed when new values are published.
How Finelta is funded
Finelta is currently an independent project with no advertising, no affiliate links and no data sales. If that ever changes, it will be disclosed clearly on this page and next to any affected content.
Corrections and feedback
Found a mistake or a number that doesn’t look right? Corrections are taken seriously and fixed promptly, with the page’s updated date changed accordingly.
Not financial advice
Finelta’s calculators and articles are educational. They make simplifying assumptions and can’t account for your full situation. For important decisions, talk to your lender, a tax professional or a licensed financial advisor.
